My Favourite YA Fantasy Series’

Okay, so. Let’s talk fantasy, shall we? Fantasy is a genre that that I’ve always loved, and YA fantasy in particular houses some of my favourite series’ of all time. From the worldbuilding to the romance, the series’ on this list have the whole package, and I can’t wait to share with you my absolute favourites. I really struggled to narrow this list down, so I decided to only feature one series per author, both to make it a little less repetitive, and so I’m not writing forever 😂 Anyway, let’s get on with it, shall we? Here are (some of) my absolute favourite YA fantasy series’!

throne of glass by sarah j. maas

It should come as no surprise to anybody who knows me even a little bit that this is my absolute favourite YA fantasy series. In fact, it may just be my favourite series, period. Assassins, magic, romance… this series just has everything I adore. I know Sarah J. Maas is a hard no for a lot of people, but I’m not going to lie: I’m trash for Maas and damn proud 🙈 Something that’s also worth noting is that I love A Court Of Thorns & Roses just as much as I love this series. However. Despite being marketed as YA, the series is most decidedly New Adult – hence why I’m not counting it here 🤭

the infernal devices by cassandra clare

Cassie Clare is an author I’ve loved for almost a decade now, and I don’t think I’ll ever not love the Shadowhunter universe as a whole. Though I love the other series’ set in this world, The Infernal Devices is by far my favourite. The fact that it’s set in Victorian London already makes it a winner in my eyes, but these characters? Not to be dramatic, but I’d die for them 🙉

six of crows by leigh bardugo

In all honesty, the Shadow & Bone trilogy could have easily made it onto this list, but if I had to choose between that series and the Six Of Crows duology (to be trilogy eventually), this one comes out on top. I love everything about the Grishaverse, but there’s something about these books – Crooked Kingdom in particular – that is just unparalleled. Leigh Bardugo is a fantastic author, enough said 🥰

daughter of smoke & bone by laini taylor

Daughter Of Smoke & Bone was one of the first YA fantasy series’ that I read when I was first dipping my toes into the genre, and it’s still one of my favourite series’ to this day. Laini Taylor’s writing is just so magical, and Karou and Akiva are some of my favourite characters of all time. If you’re a fan of star-crossed lovers, magic, and the grey area between good and evil, this trilogy really is just fantastic 😍

study by maria v. snyder

Though I still haven’t read The Chronicles Of Ixia as a whole (for reasons unknown even to myself), the first trilogy set in that world is one of my favourite series’ of all time. I love everything about Maria V. Snyder’s writing, and I don’t really know why I haven’t continued on with the Glass trilogy yet. Anyway, Yelena and Valek are just fantastic characters, and the plot is full of twists and turns throughout. I just adore this world so dang much 🙈

So there you have a few of my favourite YA fantasy series’ of all time. Have you read any of these? What are some of your favourite YA fantasy books? Until next time, happy reading! 😘
